MoRe SnoW PiCs, Babys, CraFtinS, BaKinG Etc...EtC..

Good Black Friday to you all? are alot of you going out or been out shopping? I have never done black friday..and probably never will..my little sister usually goes out in this..but she has since found that the internet and shopping are just fine..she gets alot of deals on line and boy can she find them..I need to learn the tricks of her trade.;) well to catch you up..on monday it started snowing..and we thought we would get 1-2 inches at best..well mother nature had other plans in store..she dumped about 5-7 inches on us..but all was well and I decided to do some baking and got a big crock pot of clam chowder going and baked some cinnamon rolls and bisquits for our dinner that night (photos below)..then at 6pm...we lost power..the lights had been flicking all day..and we knew it was just a matter of time...so we got the lantern out..ate dinner and played board games for the night..decided not to pull out the generator till morning...so it was an early night for us..Tuesday we got the old genny out and plugged her in and got the fridge going and watched movies..I pulled out some of our christmas movies and I started watching them..and the photos above are what I worked on while the power was out..I had so much fun doing these..that I can't wait to make more..I need to embroider on the runners above and will show them when they are finished..
I had started the cat one before the power went out..but had to wait to finish it when the power came back on..the other one..I snuck in yesterday in between cooking and cleaning..and I see I have Millies stamp er paw of approval..lol..;)
I need to embroidered something in the center of this one too..
these are the 3 outdoor chillians getting all snug and warm next to the dad man..we knew it was cold when these 3 come in..we burned more wood in 2 days that we would normally burn in 2 weeks..it was flipping cold..we got down to 16 degrees at night..and like 30 something during the day..when the power went out hubby was wiping the snow off and seen a big spark and boom and then it was gone..the power company on their recordings said it was a tree that hit the power lines...you know that is always the case here...if we had underground electricity we wouldn't have these problems..and we are usually the last to get our power back on..

do the babies look comfy and cozy? this had to have been before the power went out..cause I see no power cords all over the house hooking up stuff..
well I decided on monday before the said power outage to do some baking..I wanted to surprise the neighbors with some hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls and bisquits..but they had other ideas..they decided to go grocery shopping and it took them 4 hours or more to go 20 minutes down the road..so they picked theirs up on the way home..
this is how my hot chocolate will look when I package them up for friends and neighbors this year.
rolls before they are frosted..

hot bisquits..they were tasty and came in handy for the next couple of days..had to reheat the soup on the woodstove..I will tell you I was so thankful to have our stove and the generator...and we were prepared and we jotted more stuff down to be even more prepared in the future..cause this kind of thing happens all the time..we have been without power for up to 5 days before..now that gets old really quick..especially the hot water....we don't have gas...so you pretty much lose it within the 2 days..
hubby had taken some early shots of the moon..

you can still barely see the moon in the trees..
so this is how it looked Tuesday morning.;)

just looking at all of those photos gives me a chill..it really was cold..and that woodstove was running all day long..to look outside today..the snow is gone...still a bit cold but nothing like it was..oh and our power came back on wednesday night at 7:13pm..so 49 hours and 13 minutes without power..doing those stitcheries were a god send and so relaxing too...
this is where we found Margy fargy..she is in the stair basket with all of the catnip toys..do you think she was in heaven?
she was in it last night too..that is what you call snug as a bug in a little rug..er basket...;) we had a wonderful thanksgiving yesterday and had lots to be thankful for..number 1 getting our power back.. 2 that we were safe and snug at home..and 3 we shared a great meal with our neighbors..dinner went off without a hitch..I did a traditional turkey, sausage-bacon stuffing, garlic smashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and a pumpkin roll for dessert..and I cleaned house and mopped too.;) the day went quick..I was busy all day..doing laundry and sewing inbetween..you would have thought I would sleep like a log..but these hips don't let me do that..so a nap might be what I do later today..and I don't need to cook tonight..as I have leftovers..thats another thing to be thankful for..plenty of food to eat..I am going to make a turkey pot pie, turkey noodle soup, and turkey sandwiches..;).. Okay I have rattled on enough..I hope you all are still awake to read it.;)..I hope you all have a wonderful weekend..I am hoping to decorate on monday or the weekend..haven't decided..might enlist hubbys help to get the bins out..take care.;)

Good Morning everyone!!! look what I woke up to this morning..Hubby said it started around 7am this morning..yesterdays was kids stuff...and it stopped so I got ready and went to church and I am so glad I did...I listened to christmas music on the way there and when I left from church it started snowing again..but wasn't sticking..and I listened to christmas tunes on the way home too..thats when I love listening to it..when its snowing.;) It is still lightly snowing as we speak..Well here it is 11:40am..I stopped at 9:49am to go down to breakfast...then I cleaned house and cut hubbys hair...started clam chowder in the crock pot and am going back down stairs to make my laundry soap.;)

awwwwww!!!!! a nice warm fire to keep us all nice and toasty..we have all 7 kittys in today..we did yesterday too..this is the only time that one of them will come in and relax..she hates it in the house with the indoor kittys..but when its cold or snowy..she banging down the door...I was thinking about going to get a haircut...silly me what was I thinking..I bet the hairdresser didn't show up..well it is lightly snowing again..I am going to make cinnamon rolls today and take some to the neighbors for a nice winter treat....going to craft for a bit and then go and hang out with hubby and play on the P3..we have all the hasbro games we used to play as kids..sorry, yatzee, battleship, score 4, sliders, scrabble, price is right..so we have fun..just playing those together..he has his own games he plays..Sunny is all better too..she is sitting here purring and wanting to be loved..
Oh for christmas this year..we are getting each other our food storage..so December 4th I head to our cannery to pack it up..with the scare of hyper-inflation..we are not taking any chances...so if you haven't started yours..please do so..go to case lot sales and pick up some..you never know what could happen etc..and this economy is getting scarier by the minute..Have a wonderful day everyone...:)
p.s. if anyone wants to swap or barter for christmas gifts please let me know..I am always willing to trade.;)

OuR FiRst ThaNksGiVinG..& OuR FirSt SnOw of The YeaR...

Good Sunday Morning..it is snowing outside right now as we speak..I just snapped these photos to prove it..see the back stairs...there's a footprint of snow.;)

I guess I am staying home from church today....I don't like driving in this stuff period..got a nice fire going..the kittys are fat and happy and hubbys watching football..I guess I will get some projects done to get mailed out this week..
Last night we had our church ward activity and we did "the first thanksgiving" although I think we ate better then they did on that first day.;) I lent Peggy our chief coordinator all of my decor that she wanted and she combined some of hers and this is what she came up with..it was so pretty in our gym..the thankful tree was set up in the center and she had taken branches and put them in a little bucket..she made hearts and hung them from yarn and you put what you were thankful for..I put that I loved my ward family..:) love how she did this..my pilgrim pillow and blocks are here..
the stage took center stage with all of our goodies..she did such a great job on decorating this..it got rave reviews..everyone loved my big block letters..
that star was molded with paper mache from a metal one..and then she decorated it up..Kerry made this..I love it..that is Pegs pilgrim and turkey..and that is my tablecloth and duo pilgrims in their wagon with pumpkin...the wreaths were hanging on metal hangers..love this touch..
paper chains to set off the blocks..
the only thing not mine was the wreath....
before it started..I was working in the kitchen and came out to see how many folks had shown up and we had more then 1/2 there..
Kerry made the sweet little turkeys and there was a jar behind it with crayons..so the kids could draw on the paper tablecloths that we had on the tables..smart idea Peg..
she also made sailing ships too..and the jars had popcorn in them with a numbered flag as we were playing a trivia game asking questions about the 1st thanksgiving..

the above photos..everyone was finding their places and settling in..
this is my table..we were all eating and chatting away..that is my friend Sarah and her little boy Nalen..he got his first big boy haircut and he looks so darling with it..her daughter Natalie..and her Husband Travis..he had his phone and he googled our question and we got it right..gotta love modern technology..I bet the pilgrims wished they had it.;)
folks going up and writing on the hearts..I didn't think to take pictures of all the food..it moved so quickly..but my sweet potatoes got rave reviews..and one young man Sonny doesn't care for them..but gave them a try and loved them..told his mom she needed to get the recipe..I have shared this several times on my blog..but here it is..a must for your thanksgiving table..(posted below)..we had a wonderful time eating great food..there was plenty to go around.. well I hope you have a wonderful sunday..:) I hope you are warm wherever you are..Thanks for stopping by and saying hi..I love it when you do..oh and I am very thankful for my blogging buddys too..you have made it so much fun to get on the net everyday.;)
