MaKInG BrEaD, KniTTiNG PuMPkinS, SwApS In The MaiL anD ShOPPInG..:)

Good Afternoon everyone!!! On Thursday night we had a gal name Joylynn come and teach us how to make bread from start to finish in under 1 hour..Not kidding..only one hour and it is the tastiest bread you will eat..The company she works for is called Pantry Secrets..and it is awesome..Colleen's house smelled so good with the yummy smells of bread and soup cooking..So Joylynn showed us how it was done and it couldn't be easier...
She measured out her 10-1/2 cups of white bread flour (do not use all-purpose flour) and 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon of salt 3 rounded tablespoons of Saf-instant yeast, 3 quarter sized circles of liquid leciithin and 4 cups hot tap water..You mix the dry ingredients, add the lecithin and water. Mix for 1 minute and check consistensy. If dough is too dry. add more water..Dough should be very sticky. Mix for 5 minutes..(do not add flour to the dough after it has finished mixing). Spray counter and pans with Pam. Shape loaves and cover with a dish towel..let raise for 25 minutes. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. This recipe makes 4 loaves of bread..She was using a really nifty Bosch bread maker that looks something like the one in the link. but if you have a kitchen aid mixer you will cut the recipe in half and proceed the same.
Joylynn was kind enough to bring some of the things we would need to make this yummy bread..so I picked up the basic kit..and I got the saf-instant yeast, the lecithin, cinnamon chips (extra) for yummy sweet bread or french toast.. the bread flour..don't you just love that bag..I am totally keeping it and putting it out for thanksgiving..I got the dvd, 2 flour sack towels to cover the bread and a spatula for making the bread braids..

Here's all the ladies patiently watching and waiting..Joylynn made some little loaves of bread, a rustic bread, a two regular loaves..earlier she made two different sweet bread braids..oh my gosh it was pure heaven..

we all had a wonderful time eating and learning..Check out Jeannie and Mindys blog to see what they are up too..

Friday Kimmy and I took a class at Joanns to learn how to make these cute little knitted pumpkins..I almost got done..just had the stem to do..but the instructor had to leave to go to the beach..and we were an hour over..so mine didn't get done..I had a few problems..and had to take mine apart like 5-6 times..it was knitting in the round..has any one done this? and you use 2 ended needles..and I am left handed and couldn't figure it out..so I had to learn to knit right handed..did it though..and it was fun..but we used 4 needles at once..that was a challenge but wooden ones work the best..so will sit down and try this again on the couch...we did have a lot of fun doing it..they are super easy..it just took a bit to get used to using that many needles..and I started of using the metal ones and the needles kept slipping out.

Then it was onto to thrift shopping and then Kimmy and I said good bye..so I headed to Petsmart and then to do my grocery shopping..and when I got home there was a huge package in the house waiting for me..I did a swap with a Fellow OFG gal named Tammy and this is what I got from her..These letters are huge..and they are going to be so neat on top of the hutch for thanksgiving when I clear out the halloween stuff..that turkey is too cute.,;)
we hit the dollar store..(forgot that one) and Michaels too. got some rubber stamps, and scrapbooking stuff for making tags for my dolls..they were on clearance..got these at the dollar store for a dollar!! and some plastic halloween toys and glow sticks to put in the trick or treaters halloween bags this year.;)
Kimmy and I hit the good will store and Kimmy modeled some cute (new) hats for us..:)she will probably kill me for posting them..but she just looks too cute..

she looks cold doesn't she..or ticked off..;) I ended up getting Mike (dh) one of these so he is warm when he is walking the docks at the marina this winter.;)
I got this neat turkey bowl thingy..it had a chip on the back of it..so I got it 1/2 off...might have to do a fall arrangement in it..:)
and I picked up some plastic burger and frys dishes that they use in the burger joints for a dollar for 4..and they are black..now hows that for prim..:)
I picked this up from Michaels using my 40% off coupon..
and here he is on the front porch;)
I moved the wreath from the chair and put it up on the scale..it looks good their framing the pumpkin...oh and while I was grocery shopping I asked what they did with their pumpkins and there is a gal named Sherry that picks them up the day after halloween and feeds them to her pigs..I asked if I could come and get some of the stems to use in my crafting..she called and left me a message saying she would save some for me..so I will have plenty of stems for next years crafting...SSSAAWWWEEETTT!!!

This is the other wood block letters that I got from Tammy (a touch of Sunshine). These are wonderful..so I did a little tweaking and rearranging to get these letters where I wanted them..

the leaves are the U in the words..I love them..I
and for tonights dinner I am making a big pot of chili and some homemade bread..and it is a clear pretty day..and that makes for a bit of a chilly evening..so we are building a fire..we could use one right now..I am chilled today..got my big wools socks on and my flannel jammies and a sweat jacket..we have a comedy to watch..so tonight will be nice to just sit by the fire and watch tv and eat chili with a big piece of bread with butter on it..doesn't get any better then that.;) I hope you all have a great weekend..I will see you on monday..;)
we are having our holiday celebration starting on tomorrow for some but officially on monday...just type in WHCOFG in Etsy to see all the wonderful items..I will have a couple of santas.:) and a sign.;)

  3. Gina,

I bet that bread smell so good...homemade always does. I have a bread machine and need to get it out and make some. Chili sounds so yummy too. It's been cooler here too. A high of 66 today.

  4. What makes a home smell better than fresh bread? Well, maybe fresh cookies:)

I didn't make any but bought both at our church Bazaar today.

Enjoy that fire and chili, sounds like a slice of heaven to me.

  5. Love the pumpkin headed goulie! I agree with you that flour bag is fantastic! I love things like that in my kitchen. I have a old time looking pancake mix box that I have displayed on a wooden shelf. I love all kinds of advertising tins too! Hope you have a wonderful fun filled weekend.

  6. Oh, I love that you are knitting! The punkins are so cute!
When I hear talk of chili, I think of cooler weather. It has been so beautiful here the past few days, but the forecast is 33 on Monday night. Glad I got the blankets out!
Love still being to have the windows open all day!

  7. Bread? Seriously? Not in this house, no way! "She" would burn down the stove! Seriously!

AND shopping?! Sounds like you did some serious shopping!!! "She" just found the dollar store last week - you'd think "she" had just won the lottery "she" was so happy! Yes, based on what was brought home from one place and you visited many, I woud say it was most definitely a SERIOUS shopping day. Or would that have been classified as an event?!? Either way, I'm glad you had a great day!

I also think that maybe DH should share his hat with Kimmie - she looks cute :)

    Purrs!

  8. What a fun bread making party! And it's such a good idea. This is perfect weather for making soup and bread. Love those Thanksgiving letters. They look great. Now that I'm on the mend I'm thinking about making some cheddar potato soup. Yum.

  9. The bread sounds yummy, I make a sour dough bread that is a three day process of feeding, rising and shaping. Yours sounds easier if I could find all the ingredients. 8-) Love your new goodies.
I would love to swap sometime, I am involved in about four right now so needs to be sometime in November though.
    Blessings,
