WhaTcha WorKin on WedNesDay...

Here is a Stocking I made yesterday..got another one in the works that will look similar but with a snowman on it...then I created another stocking to go with the embroidery I will put on it..It looks modern and I think it will be a neat looking stocking...if I say so myself...
Again my camera isn't working properly so it only flashes when it feels like it...and for the stockings it didn't...

My little sister gave me this awesome sugar cooking recipe yesterday...so I thought I would make them...oh are they soft and chewy and yummy..you see there was a casualty with one of those cookies..I had to take a photo of the yummy goodness there...actually I had 3...they are like lays potato chips...can't have just one...lol...Here is the recipe...
Soft and Chewy Sugar Cookies
(note: you can halve this recipe) I made the smaller batch and got 27 cookies and easily could have gotten 30 out of this....
so this is the "FULL" recipe...
6 eggs
1/2 pound of real butter, room temp.
1/2 cup butter flavored crisco. (plain is fine too).
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 TBS almond extract
1 TBS pure vanilla extract
1 Cup evaporated milk
2 cups of sugar
5-6 cups of flour (depends on the consistancy)
you can use the 6th cup for the flouring of the surface in which to roll them out
Take room temp butter , sugar and crisco, cream them till nice and smooth. then add eggs one at a time till mixed. Then sift dry ingredients together and add them alternating the evaporated milk, till mixed.. The dough will be a gooey consistancy. Flour your surface and rolling pin well, put dough on floured surface and sprinkle flour on dough to keep the rolling pin from sticking..roll out to about a 1/4 inch thick or 1/8 inch depending how thick you want them..I personally love a thick soft and chewy cookie...and depending on the size of your cookie cutter will depend on how many cookies you get...put on a stone or cookie sheet in a preheated 375 degree oven for no more then 8-9 minutes...take off of sheet or stone to let cool completely..
Here is the butter cream frosting that is just to die for..
1/3 cup butter
1 pound of powdered sugar
5 TBS evaporated milk
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
mix butter, vanilla and milk first then add the powdered sugar.
you can tint the frosting to suit the holidays..
you can also halve this recipe as well...
Your family won't know what hit them...they won't last long either...:)
Well I was out putzing in the garage this morning and in my jammies of course and I was just heading into the house and was throwing stuff in the recycling can and something caught me by surprise as well as my kittys, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a cute little doe that was coming through my yard, not the least bit afraid of me...she pranced and she pawed and skedaddled out of my yard and down to the neighbors and I just followed her.....she must have only been 20 yards away from me...amazing how domesticated she is...nice to see...anywho it was nice to see...
I hope your day is going well...gotta get some more stockings done...so I am off to do that..have a great hump day...:)

  2. Hey Gina,
Love the Santa stocking. I know what snowman design you are talking about because I purchased it also. Great embroidery minds just think alike!! LOL.. I put the snowman design on a dishtowel, did one on a mini pillow, and then did it on woolfelt for a table runner. If I don't keep them...they are going to my show with me on Friday.

The Sugar Cookie recipe looks yummy. I might have to try them out as sugar cookies are my favorite!! I have a recipe that my grandmother made up when she was just a teenager and I just love them. I make them for every season and then sometimes just cause I want to. When my grandmother went to the nursing home in the last years of her life, I would make her sugar cookie recipe and take them to her. I think of her everytime I make some...of the times when I was little making them with her...and now making them with Josie.
