WhAt wE diD oVer ThE WeEkeNd...

Sara of Sweet Magnolias gave me this award..said she liked my blog...that makes me fill good. Thank you Sara...:)
so I will tell you 7 things I love... .but will not pass this on as I love all of your blogs..so take it if you like...okay 7things..
1. My husband and all that he does to ensure we are warm, safe, well fed and happy..
2. My kittys and our dog...they do bring us much joy..:)
3. my faith for without it..don't know where I would be..God is great and has helped us through so many things and helped us to heal when we lost our babys..and he continues to take care of us!...:)
4. I love to be able to create with my hands...just love what I do..:)
5..I love spring for the rebirth of life and seeing things popping up that lay dormat all winter and then remembering that they are there..
6. my bestest friend Kimmy...my partner in crime..:)
7. our good health, our home, the food on the table..Mikes job...that provides this..
8..okay 8..all of my good blogging friends that I have made this last year...I have throughly enjoyed your friendships and hope to continue in the future...it has opened up a whole other world out there...

Well I hope you all had a great weekend..Saturday was spent crafting and being in my studio..Mike was out in the garage doing his thing..Sunday turned out to be a most glorious day..it was beautiful..so when it gets like that we jump on getting things done..but first I wanted to show you touches of spring..I put up 4 flower baskets of of pansys...I love em...purple and yellow..

We finally got the hedges taken out and still have the stumps on some of them that will be turned into firewood...I will never have those again..too messy (photenia) and lots of upkeep..they did give us the privacy we wanted..but too much hassle..so we are going to extend the garden up to the fence...the little cat sculptures you see are where our babys are buried and I am going to get some lavendar, button plants and gerbera daisys for that area..it gets so much sun there now and my babies loved the sun...so this is their special garden...

we are now going to work on getting all of that flower stuff out of the garden beds and get planting our garden...have no idea where all that seed came from..I never planted it..it is a beautiful flower but not in my garden...gotta get bark for the yard and get burning the weeds that are growing and get a jump on it before it takes over...love a freshly barked yard..makes all the plants stand out and it protects the yard from weeds which makes my job easier...we are also taking out the lawn in front of the garden and fence there and either barking it in or putting a gravel base there..too much moisture there and it isn't growing well..so I would rather have maybe potted plants here and there..I think we are going to rotitill our whole yard and put down grass again...to many lumps and bumps and oh my gosh the moss that is growing...great if you want moss for a yard..:)

gotta get my pots planted with flowers..hopefully in the next couple of weeks that will happen...it has been a cold month..so not sure what April will be bringing...can't believe it is already april...where does the time go? seems the older I get the more it flys right by me...the neighbors are tearing down that old fence thank goodness as it is rotting and we are helping them put in a new one...one that will add privacy and keep out the weeds..we will put in a gate that leads to both of ours though...easy access to both the yards..we are also going to fence in our garden so the dog and deer stay out of it..

here is the view of the debris we need to put through the chipper for our back yard...that pile was huge before I left for church yesterday...and when I came home..it had shrunk..Mike had seperated the leaves from the branches so now we have a bit of free firewood and will have chips for the back yard portion..which is another job in itself..gotta take out some berry bushes and some ferns to open it up a bit more..I would like to be able to walk through there more freely..and it will be easier to get out the morning glory that keeps coming back..hoping to kill it once and for all..beautiful but intrusive as heck...it just smothers and takes over...and no we didn't plant it..it has just crept into our yard over the years..and we have a piece of raw property next to us that we have to deal with and it is all through it..

here is our flowering cherry tree getting it leaves..it has the most gorgeous magenta blooms ever..and those are my ornamental coffee/birdhouse out in front...2 are ceramic from joanns...I bought the coffee/birdhouses from my favorite haunt that I shop at..her yard is full of whimsy and always makes me smile when I shop at her place..gives me so much fun inspiration...:)

here is our camillia bush with a ton of blooms..maybe another week or two and this will be in full bloom..I love this tree..reminds me of the antique roses that I love..

our Forsythia trees have been blooming for a couple of weeks now..wish they never lost their blooms..heck I wish all my stuff never lost its bloom..I love these and they never last long enough...but I do enjoy them..

one last photo to end with..Miss Pody Ann had to try out my new/old laundry basket...she is the baby..and that little one always makes me smile..they all do of course..this one is for Terry at Big city Prims..she always posts her big fluffy boy for me..so this is for her...haven't heard from her in a while..I miss her posts...hint hint...if you are reading this...I love reading everyones so keep writing and I will keep reading...I have the house to myself today..Mike and Tucker are at work..so gotta mop and clean this house and finish up my projects for the laundry swap I am doing..when she gets her stuff I will post what I sent her..I am so excited for her to see it..but I of course can't wait to see what she sent me...I am having a ball sewing and embroidering...hope your week is starting of right...oh I must tell you about a dream/nightmare my DH had last night..we both woke up around 2 am and he told me..I nearly bust a gut...he dreamt he had a pet fish that didn't need water..it was a big gold fish with hair on its head like Tuckers..a big fuzz ball..and I cooked it up for dinner and he was starting to eat it and it wasn't cooked all the way...and he couldn't believe I was making him eat his pet fish...lol...This just made me laugh...as I guess this fish followed him everywhere...I am wondering if he was dreaming of Tucker and he was in a fish suit..or he was on something I didn't know about...any way...you had to have been there...aren't dreams fun?

LoOk WhaT CaMe in ThE MaiL...

Well look what came for me in the mail today!...it was in a nice green shiny envelope and all wrapped up just for me!!..
Here it is after I unwrapped it..a nice card from Cris and this beautiful necklace...I love it!..

and of course I had to model it so you could see it on me..Thank you again Cris for this wonderful giveaway...this is going to be my new favorite necklace....:) I also went and got my hair done from a new gal named Ali, and I am happy with the way she did my hair...it is always hard when its your first time with some one new as they don't know your quirks etc..but I tell you it was like we knew each other..she is only 22 and has only been doing hair for about a year...and it is only 7 minutes from my house..my old hair stylist dropped me like hot potato..and I am thinking I caught her in a lie..so it was a good thing..except now I have 2 purses that I need to sell or one anyway..unless I can find a Diane and she likes cats..cause if you go through my entrys.. I have those 2 purses I custom made in trade for doing my hair..but that has changed..so if anyone is interested just let me know..I will be posting the one on my selling blog tomorrow...well I am off to get dinner going..grilled cheese and ham sandwiches and soup...Take care and talk to you soon...:)

WhaTcha WorKin on WedNesDay...or WhaTcha PuTTin aWay...:)

Well yesterday I was supposed to get my hair done..but my stylist cancelled out on me till thursday..keeping my fingers crossed it gets done on thursday..but any way I headed out to Joanns early cause I thought I was getting my hair done and since my day just opened up..I gave my Kimmy a call..(that is what I call her)...lol..to see if she was up for visiting...and then I said lets go shopping..so we headed out to do some TS shopping and whatever else tickled us..we hadn't been to these stores in quite a while so we had a ball and both helped our economy tremendously..my DH must never know...we hit 3 stores yesterday and both found some fun stuff...by the time I got home last night I was a pooped pup../er kitten..I was gone from 9:15am till 5pm..as when I left kimmy I hit 2 more stores on my way home..so needless to say DH and me were both pooped and played hooky from Tuckers class last night..it was a rainy night and we just needed to settle in and take er easy..so easy that I fell asleep at 9pm on the couch.....that is what good food and nice fire will do to ya...felt good though..I do feel quite refreshed today though...Okay here are the photos of our shopping spree before I took them out of the bags ...
this was my joanns excursion..these photos are in no order..they never are with me..I bought this fabric for Jenn of Bittersweet fixins N Prims. I am making her daughter a purse and these are her favorite colors..I hope I do the purse justice..I will definitely post it when it is done...won't be started on it till next week sometime..it will have some machine embroidery on it too...the inside is the pink...

here was a steal..these jars are getting flippin expensive..I got this big beauty for 3 bucks..they wanted anywhere from 6.95 to 8 dollars for the smaller ones at various places yesterday..I had the lid already..may have to use it in my kitchen with baking type items..was going to use it for laundry soap..but I have to keep it..

here was my other steals..these old cheese boxes found at 2 different stores for 4 bucks each...I love these..may have to paint each one up different and keep em...not sure..depends on space..I am getting to where I don't like clutter..cause then it is just more for me to dust..and I just don't like dusting any longer...maybe once a month or when I can see it..used to be once a week..just not happening any more...lol..

here is also a wonderful find a big picnic basket to go with my other one that is similar..I will stack it on the other one and use it for tempory storage when I decorate for the holidays...then I can easily pull it back out..I paid 10.50 for this one...it is in wonderful condition..

here is a kitty card I bought that will go with some stuff I am making for our vets for the great care they always give to us and especially last saturday..will go into detail further down this blog..I also got this potato masher 2.00 either for a makedo or for bird feeders...I didn't take photos of the lids..will take photos of the finished projects when they are done..I also got my wrought iron tie backs for my curtains...and this little washboard is so cute it was 3.99. this will be used in a laundry thing I am making to sell...can't wait to see it all done..I know you all can't either..lol..

more unfinished frames at Joanns for my embroidery samplers..

I bought this jar at Walmart for my homemade laundry soap to sell on my blog...

I also got these paper mache boxes and terracotta pot along with the wooden eggs at Joanns...

Here is a basket that I bought at Joanns for the goodies I plan on making for our vets..I am putting in some of my homemade strawberry christmas jam, some banana bread, cookies, soda bisquits, and homemade bread (from the bread maker of course)...and some homemade hot cocoa with this card attached..I will post a photo of that as well..I have some ideas on how I want to wrap it all up...:) joanns had their baskets at 50% off...so I had to have it..

more burlap for the purses I want to make...

a T shirt for the DH...he will love this..will give it to him at Easter..

here is the back of it...he has a harley and he is an old guy...so 2 for the price of one.....he needs another black shirt like he needs a hole in the head...but I loved the Old guys rule..and he does...lol..

Oh I just love bowls and such...I bought the green bowl to give to my neighbor..but I may have to keep it for me..not sure..but the blue one is mine...all mine..the green bowl was 4 dollars while the blue one was 2 bucks..I couldn't believe it..The great big jar in the back is going to be for the homemade laundry soap...it was 2.50...love those big jars especially with the lids..the other jar with the cork is for halloween potions and that one was 1.50...and the velveteen rabbit book was 50 cents..it will go with a buny I am making that I got the pattern from Pam of soft in the head..it will fit him so well...

I got this apple basket with metal handles..I am in love!..I am turning this one into my laundry basket...Iam going to try and wash the lining and hope it survives the wash...and if it doesn't will make one similar and embroider my laundry designs on it..it was 8.00..

here is the inside..this gal had the cutest booth and she had some wonderful stuff...I think I got 3 things in her booth..very retro and old fashioned..loved everything in her booth..lots of vintage linens etc..
and lastly...my rick/rack trims for the purses and the the 3 in the center are for the handles..one has paw prints on it..that will be my purse of course...well that is it for me today..now I gotta go and find places for all of this. have a great rest of your wednesday..the sun is finally at 3pm coming out..so the stinky puppy will be going outside to play...it is still very wet outside...but this is march after all...:)

FrEe STuFF and TweAkiNG...& MiNis..

First off I want to say THANK YOU to all of you that left me your heartfelt condolenses on our Otto bisquit...We are okay...still have our moments of crying..but we are getting through this..the hardest part is just not seeing him on a daily basis and getting the automatic purrs from him...they were instant and we loved hearing them..he is sorrelly missed by us and our other kittys..he was our baby for so long and then to nothing..but we know he lived a wonderful life and we are the better for having him in ours...:) I can see him everyday through my kitchen window and my craftroom window and that is a comfort...I am going to get lots of gerbera daisys and primroses and really spruce it up for spring like I always do as there are 2 others buried there as well...it is our little kitty area and they are spreading seeds of love there...
well it was a quiet weekend of rememberance and just staying close to home..much needed after this long hard week...I put my mouse that Pam gave me in the kitchen on the boxes there...looks right at home too...I have my strawberry/cranberry christmas jam that I made a couple of months ago..the big jar with some hot bisquits and cookies will go to our vet clinic as they really take such good care of us and while we really wanted Otto to be at home we could not so we took him in to the clinic and they have a nice quiet room for us to be in...and they took such good care of us and took a paw print of our baby that we will get back in a week...so I need to let them know how much it meant to us that they took such great care of us and our otto (and all of our babies)...we call them our pediatricians...they are the best..the whole staff are like friends...they just treat us so good..
yesterday we took a walk with the Tucker and on our walk we came along a table with free stuff on it...well I cleaned up! I love kitchen gadgets and will either use them in the garden or plant stuff in the sifters..but I love the big one and love that knob too...I have lots of kitchen stuff in the garden..I buy at the thrift store old utensils and use them as plant markers..I have an old sink with succulents in it along with beach glass..I have a measuring spoon sundial and I have pots and pans with all my succulents in them around our maple tree...I make and sell these....they are lots of fun..I will post those another time...great for stuff you no longer want..make it into a planter..

This beat up sweater was with the free stuff too...it was an eddie bauer sweater and 100% wool..and it had holes in the sleeves..but I knew I could wash it up and I would have the wool to make doll sweaters or mittens..so I took it..

here is the after process..shrunk up nicely...

I ordered a bunch of mini's from factory direct to use in my mixed media projects...I love this little stuff and the little grapevine wreaths and stars etc...can't wait to get started on some more of that stuff..flour and sugar sacs, wall clocks, bushel of apples, milk crate with milk, flags, beehives, eggs, butter, milk, washboards, and I got 2 of those ceramic vintage looking old washers..love em...

more mini's..bowls, plates, lamps, butter churns, flower pots, books

this is an apron I bought a couple of weeks ago and I decided to model it so you can see what it looks like on...a set of bloomers...too funny...Well I am off to get my day going...gotta tidy up the house (everyday)..and go grocery shopping....the weather is kind of dismal..but this is March..although I will say for Saturday with the passing of our baby..the sun was out all day..has been for our last 2 babys as well..so God was smiling on us and welcoming our baby home..it was beautiful to say the least...I hope you all have a wonderful week...:)p.s. on a bright note..I won a beautiful necklace from Chris at Mommys midwest mountain folk art..I have been wanting one of her items for so long especially with kittys and it couldn't have come at a better time..I won on Saturday...This is my 4th win...Loving this blogging stuff...I need to do another giveaway...will keep you posted..its been a while...:)

SaYinG GooDbYe...

This beautiful morning we laid our dear sweet otto bisquit to rest...This has been a difficult week to say the least..3 false calls and then yesterday we just knew it was time..He was 11 days shy of his 18th birthday and was a fighter till the very end...We are numb right now but we have had time to come to terms with his death and have decided to celebrate his life instead!..he was our hang by the seat of your pants laid back kind of kitty..he has loved every kitty and dog that we have had..he taught his boo how to hunt mice..He was our behind the scenes not make a fuss sort of kitty..just took things as they came...We love this photo above cause he looks like he just heard a great joke..even just two months ago he was still running around and acting kitty like...He loved life and we loved him for being in ours! We will miss him dearly...but know that where he is now is even better and we will see him again someday..
Here he is with his best friend Bearbum that we lost to cancer 6 years ago at the age of 8..they went to Italy with us and they were inseperable together..so I know that Otto has caught up and is having the time of his life with his boo and his other brothers and sisters..

Otto loved his wheelbarrow...

Sleeping in front of the fire with his boo in 2003

Otto on his Frosty...

at christmas time..

on our bed..

again in his wheelbarrow...taking a siesta...I will miss him terribly..but know that he is happy and whole again and that makes my heart smile through the tears...Good bye my sweet gentle one, your mommy and daddy miss you and love you with all their hearts...xoxoxxo
